MILROY, John Andrew

December 27, 1929 – August 18, 2015

With very heavy hearts, we lost our cherished father and Poppa from complications of pneumonia on August 18th in his 86th year. Born in Gage town, NB, John moved to Hamilton, Ontario where he married the love of his life, Eva Ella Anna (pre-deceased) and raised four daughters. John retired from Brinks Canada and the Hamilton Board of Education. Dad’s favorite things were his family, camping, fishing, woodworking, birds, Fugly the Cat and putting everything he owned in his garage! Canadian Tire may miss him as much as we will. Dad fought Skin Cancer for years and Esophageal Cancer 2 years ago but his courage and strength after the loss of Mum was inspirational. He moved to Owen Sound and lived out a life dream of being a semi-farmer. Loving father to Nancy Musters (John), the late Cynthia Wilson (Dave), Karen Kanold (Peter) and Kathryn McVicar (John). Cherished Poppa to 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dear Brother-in-Law to Joan Todd and Yvonne Todd.

Dad was someone everyone loved and wanted to be around– his kindness was extraordinary – his generosity never-ending – his laugh contagious – his smile engaging! Dad was one of those truly old fashioned classy gentlemen – Daddy you were one of a kind. You have left us heartbroken but knowing you are reunited with Mum and Cindy brings us peace!

Thank you to PSW Caroline, Markdale Home Away Program and Dr. Whittle.

A very special thank you to Dr. Ronland Vender and Dr. Yaron Shargall for all the care and compassion you showed Daddy. He thought the world of you both. Thank you for the extra years you gave him to share with us!

In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to www.stjoesfoundation.ca Make a Gift, In Memoriam to John Milroy, Chest and Surgery – the funds will continue to improve the life of those with Esophageal Cancer.
